“From Joseph Smith onward, numerous Mormon leaders & ‘prophets’ had strong occult interests. Joseph Smith was very interested in astrology. He also practiced ritual magic, was involved drawing magic circles, and used divining rods. Smith also would use seer stones in a hat, bury his face in the hat and then ‘see’ visions of buried treasure. This was how the Book of Mormon was allegedly translated. Doctrine & Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price – books used by Mormons – were received from spiritistic revelations. In Mormonism people can contact spirits and feel safe about it. However Deuteronomy 18:9-13 condemns all forms of occultism including necromancy (contacting the dead). The father of all lies, satan, was behind the revelations Joseph Smith received, as his means for receiving information were via occult methods.”
