Do Not Bring Any Detestable or Cursed Object Into Your Home

“Do not bring any detestable objects into your home, for then you will be destroyed, just like them. You must utterly detest such things, for they are set apart for destruction. -Deuteronomy 7:26

Believe it or not, inanimate objects can become vehicles for satanic power. Yes, there is such a thing as demonic attachments or focalization in certain objects. One example is pagan idols, which are not merely artistic pieces of deadwood or stone. They can have a power behind them, as idol worshipers know only too well. Indeed, many objects used in occult practices have spiritual potency. For example, Ouija boards, tarot cards, I Ching, rune dice, crystals and gems, astrology charts, talismans, dowsing rods, and many other physical implements used in occult, idolatrous practices may become channels for demonic power. This is perhaps why God commanded the Jews to burn pagan items and not have them in their home (Deuteronomy 7:26).

Consider the following quotes [bold mine]:

…Be very cautious of what you buy for your HOUSE/GARDEN. Gnomes(underground magical spirit), sun god, female angels(Babylon/Ishtar), fairy(casts spells/predicts future), dream catchers(intended to manipulate the spirit world), dragons(the devil), gargoyles(demons, wards off evil spirits, superstition), statue of mother Mary(idolatry), statue of Jesus(idolatry), etc. These types of things are demonic entryways for spiritual attack and more than that, violation of God’s commands that invite judgment. Destroy them, repent, and renounce any ground you have given to the enemy in Jesus Name. Please warn others and share this on your wall.” – Yasmeen Suri

Destroy all occult objects like amulets, talismans, fetishes, mascots, letters from heaven, lucky charms, threatening letters, figures of gods and cultic objects belonging to non-christian religions are crystallization points for demonic powers.” – Occult ABC A comprehensive examination of 71 forms of occult activity, their effect, and deliverance from them.  Kurt E. “How often missionary wives have told me that from the moment that their husbands hung up a devil’s mask in their living room, there was strife and discord in the family.  It is extremely foolish and shows a great lack of experience for missionaries in their collectors zeal to bring home devil’s masks and other cultic objects and to keep them in their homes”  Occult ABC A comprehensive examination of 71 forms of occult activity, their effect, and deliverance from them. – Kurt E. “A ministers wife on Prince Edward Island had collected a whole table-full of figures of gods and cultic objects from the mission field.  Today she is in a mental institution” Occult ABC -Page 228- A comprehensive examination of 71 forms of occult activity, their effect, and deliverance from them. – Kurt E. “I have often been asked if it is advisable to take figures carved in wood home from the mission field as souvenirs.  Objects carved from new wood and those which were not consecrated to any deity are not dangerous. Unfortunately, it is the custom in some areas, like the island of Bali, to consecrate even the newly carved figures to gods to some demon.” Page 290- A comprehensive examination of 71 forms of occult activity, their effect, and deliverance from them. – Kurt E. “In South Africa there are about 1.1 million Indian Immigrants.  These immigrants brought their Hindu gods with them.  I have visited a number of communities where they live.  An evangelist who works among them told me the following story.  A certain Hindu family had a daughter who had been dumb for years.  Since the Hindu gods were unable to help, the parents came one day to the missionary asking for his help and prayers.  Brother N. visited the family and prayer with them,  The first day there was no reaction to be seen in the girl.  She only uttered an inarticulate cry.  Bother N. went the next day and the day after.  On the third day, the girl suddenly asked a question.  Everyone was filled with joy.  The events of the next days, however showed that the girl was not completely free.  One evening she started to writhe around on the ground like a snake.  The father dent her to bed.  The next morning he called in the missionary again.  Brother N visited the family once more and asked them to bring out all their gods.  The family had some sacred Hindu nails, used to ward off the spirits.  The nails were handed over.  Then the missionary prayed again for the girl.  She still didn’t have complete deliverance. “Have you brought out everything?”  the missionary asked the parents”  The parents said they had.  The daughter however interrupted and said:  “Mother, what have you hidden in the bath?’  It was a beautiful idol which the mother was very loath to part with.  Nevertheless she resolved to give up this idol, too.  Then, the girl was freed.  The child’s dumbness was not organic, but the effect of a ban resulting from sorcery” Occult ABC: A comprehensive examination of 71 forms of occult activity, their effect, and deliverance from them. – Kurt E. Again and again, as I sought to help those needing deliverance, I observed the close association between occult involvement and serious problems of depression. It became clear to me that this had probably contributed to my own struggles against depression when I was a young pastor.

One day in 1970 I was meditating on Deuteronomy 7:26: ‘Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it; but you shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing.’ I walked around my home and realized I had a number of ‘abominations.’ So I made a decision that I believe had an important bearing on the future course of my life and ministry: I determined not to keep in my possession anything that in any way dishonored Jesus Christ or that opened the door to demonic influence.

I rid myself of a succession of items I had inherited from my family: four antique, beautifully embroidered Chinese imperial dragons and a whole assortment of Chinese antiques, all carrying the emblem of the dragon. I also disposed of items containing elegant Arabic calligraphy, some of which undoubtedly gave glory to Mohammed and the Muslim god, Allah. I also cleared out my library, especially Plato’s books, and everything that in any way glorified the occult. Then I threw away a series of poems I had written in the days when I was still enamored of India.

This dramatically changed the spiritual atmosphere around me. It was like passing out of twilight into the clear light of day.

I have real concern for the many Christians slow to recognize God’s intense hatred of every form of the occult. Tolerating any kind of continuing occult influence in our lives exposes us to forces that threaten our own spiritual well-being.” – They Shall Expel Demons – Derek Prince

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can receive Him into your heart, and He can deliver you from darkness and sin and have your name written in His Book of Life.

If you are sincere, you can say this simple prayer to the Father (it doesn’t have to be word for word):

“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins, just as I forgive others. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”

I agree with alot of what you have pointed out, regarding the Occult and would’ve taken your view as good wisdom, but unfortunately you have made the same mistake, as my family did when we were Presbyterian Protestants, I took up the challenge of Cardinal Henry Newman and later by Scott Hahn and ex Baptist minister Devin Rose to study the early Church, Sacred tradition and Apostolic succession and Magisteriam, thinking Sola Scriptura and Sola Fida would destroy there argument, fortunately we were proved wrong, not one accusation or as I know myth, stood up to forensic examination, the Church was always visible and the Church founded by Christ is the Universal Apostolic Catholic Church, its beauty was hidden from me by bigotry, myths and egotistical self interpretation of men always, looking for the lazy path to God.
I pray the Holy Spirit will give you the courage to seek the truth, that can never be found by any teaching of the Reformation.

I feel saddened when I read this reply.
The Catholic church is full of pagan symbolism and rituals… even the day the worship God on is SUNday being the “venerable day of the sun”.
It is true… God does shun paganism and anything associated with paganism..
Look for a true church who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus… Rev 14:12

This is wrong on so many levels, this is what they do they want to demonize other cultures to scare people into joining their Truly evil religion which is nothing but lies! Think for yourself and find the truth!

Sorry sir I don’t agree. I was Catholic and that is religion not a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I never asked God to take me out of the Catholic Church, I just remember it came to my heart that I needed fellowship and a bible study. This was before I even knew what fellowship was. Out of the blue by a stranger, I was once again invited to a Christian Church and this time I went. God started showing me that I needed to leave the Catholic Church before I even knew that anything was really wrong. I believe my Christian neighbors were praying for me. I soon left and it was the best thing I’ve ever done in my life! God taught me his word through the Christian Church. I began to see the authority of his word and realized I was not learning about him like I should have been my whole life. The pope is not the final authority like it says in their teachings. God’s word is the final Authority. God bless you on your journey.

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. God sent a man, John the Baptist, to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
      John 1:1‭-‬14

So… only an S rune in double form is prohibited? Not the other 23 runes? How reasonable. Exactly what I would have said. I’ve noticed some Christians have a weird obsession with sowilo to the point of exclusion of all the other runes. That’s weird. Some of the runes are unlucky, dark or “satanic” but Sowilo isn’t one of them. It’s a lucky rune, as are all the runes known for being used by the Nazis. You would never notice a thurisaz, hagalaz, or naudiz. They’d go right over your head.

So a christian cannot be proud of their African or Native Amerindian heritage because having statues/sculptures/art in your house is “demonic”?

It’s very interesting how there isn’t anything on there about Roman/European statues/sculptures.

the absurdity of this article !

I understand it, that the articles the author is talking about are specifically used to honor spiritual entities or gods. The God of the Holy Bible says not to make any graven images. These images/articles are believed in/honored and trusted in for protection/good luck/good spirits etc. thus worshipped. These are deceptive and are used in all types of witchcraft. My mother had a Jesus statue she prayed to all the time. My brother found it in a ditch behind our house when we were kids. She thought oh it’s Jesus so she started praying to it for years. I came to take care of her and my dad. I noticed one night a doppelganger spirit for lack of a better word looking just like my mother showing up in the house on 3 different occasions. Never saw that in my life until I did. One night I heard something in the livingroom and went to check it out. I walked passed the statue and to my surprise the hairs on my neck stood up. I’ve never had that happen before. I could sense a dark evil presence and remember seeing a super dark shadow of some kind in front of the statue. I am not a real fearful person but told this thing to get out. I started teaching my mom and dad about the bible. Needless to say, we got rid of all statues in their house. The house felt so much lighter. Depression seemed to lift off of my parents hard to explain if you haven’t experienced it. He gives us commandments for a reason to protect us! I’ve learned that fear comes from torment and does not belong to the children of God.

“You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.
      Exodus 20:4‭-‬6

For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.

Just wait until the Word of God is spoken through a True and Faithful Believer and demons tremble and flee. I believe that Jesus Christ’s blood was shed to take away my sin and the sin of the world. I believe he came back to life on the third day defeating death. He ascended into heaven and is at the right hand of the Father God Almighty. He loves you so much. He created you with such care. He detailed everything about you and has books written about you in heaven. He knows every hair on your head. You have a purpose and a destiny. Repent of your sin and receive Jesus today. You will never regret it. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Anyone notice how a woman’s genitalia is always demonic But not so much a man’s genitalia? Woman’s vagina is where we all came out of if anything that should be considered Sacred not demonic, And then Catholic girls are raised to believe that there female parts are evil and something to be ashamed of not so much a man’s parts. Such stupidity!!!

Catholics do not worship statues of Jesus or His mother Mary. They are merely three dimensional representations of these biblical figures. Rosaries are not idols, either. They are used for biblical prayer. Fundamentalism is a relatively new development in Christian Church history. The Catholic Church has existed for 2,000 years. Learn the history of iconoclasm and how it relates to accusations of idolatry. This isn’t new. The Catholic Church teaches that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Sola Scriptura is not biblical. Scripture and Tradition (not “traditions of men”) are the pillars of the faith. The Church determined the Canon of the Bible. The protestant church removed the 7 deuterocanonical books of the Old Testament because they contradicted its teachings. The Catholic Church does not worship the pope. He is the vicar of Christ on earth. The only time his words are infallible are when he makes official pronouncements to the faithful (on matters of doctrine) as a whole. This has only occurred a handful of times in history. Stop believing anti-Catholic propaganda and read real Church history. Also, if you read the Old Testament, you will see that God instructed the Israelites to carve cherubim into the ark. Were they idols? No. They did not worship them.
