The following are from a former New Ager, who also was involved in seances, astrology, spirit guides, and more, but turned Christian:

Having myself had spirit guides in the New Age, I know the Long Island Medium, Theresa Caputo, has fallen angels who help her. Anthony William, Medical Medium, openly speaks of angels, writes about them in his books, and tells people how to call on them.

The only difference between Theresa Caputo and Anthony William is that Caputo claims she is communicating with the dead while Anthony William calls his contact “Spirit.” But in both cases, they are communicating with fallen angels.

All mediums have spirit guides (as do astrologers, psychics, etc.) and most of them talk about it. Look in the books by psychic-mediums Sylvia Browne, John Edward, James Van Praagh, and others and they give advice on how to find/contact your guides. These guide are fallen angels, aka demons, though I prefer to call them fallen angels as it makes it more clear who they are for many people.

It is not surprising that such guides exist when the Bible talks about a familiar spirit in some places, which I believe is a fallen angel. Some of what Caputo does may involve guessing or even some trickery; I do not deny that. But some of it comes through her guides as well. I know this firsthand from my experiences in the New Age.

Practices such as spirit contact and contacting the dead were associated with the worship of false gods — see Deuteronomy 18:10-12. 2 Kings 17:17, and other passages. See Acts 16:16 about the woman “with a spirit of divination” who had a demon cast out of her. This does not mean that all mediums, psychics, or astrologers are possessed, but rather that their practices include a demonic element. The spirit of divination literally reads “the spirit of the python,” referring to the pagan Delphi oracles. See commentary on this at end.

People who do this are often bothered by these spirits but may not talk about it. Their sleep may be disrupted, they see manifestations (appearances of beings), hear noises or voices, etc. In fact, this happened to me.

Caputo answered this in an interview:
Q. Do spirits bother you when you are sleeping?

Caputo: Absolutely. I get up. I toss. I turn. I hear things. I feel things. I don’t really dream. Spirit is just preparing me. My sleep is a little different.==From goo.gl/ZBmozE

Similarly, Anthony William states:
“The gift is relentless…..sometimes their voices don’t stop because there’s such an overwhelming demand out there for health solutions.”

Q&A
I’ve been asked how can the fallen angels know so much about a dead person or about someone asking a question of a psychic? This was my reply:

Notice in some passages in the NT how it talks about the “angels watching” or “for the sake of the angels.” These references are probably to the holy angels who serve God, but it implies that fallen angels are also present and observe. We see that with Jesus when he was on earth and dealing with the “unclean spirits.” I think there was more activity then because Satan knew who Jesus was and was trying to thwart him and Jesus had to show his power over demons, but that does not mean the demons left after Jesus ascended, especially since there are a number of warnings in the New Testament letters to the churches.

Angels don’t die, so what are they doing? The fallen angels are trying to tempt and promote “doctrines of demons” through false teachings. They are intelligent beings who can observe, and are not limited spatially in a physical sense (though they are not omnipresent). There is also the term “familiar spirit” in the Bible. There is a lot of debate over what this means, but I think this refers to fallen angels who influence some unbelievers on earth, particularly those in false belief systems including the New Age and the occult.

An angel familiar with your deceased aunt, for example, can communicate information to the medium about her if you are consulting the medium. Anthony William’s angels can tell him what your health issue is. Mediums and psychics seem helpful and may actually care about you. However, this is how deception works, by looking kind and good.

Angels are NOT omniscient, however. Due to that and also because God can limit information to the fallen angels, or limit what the psychic/medium/astrologer/card reader receives from the angels, they will not always be right. Those are my thoughts on it after many years dealing with this topic, both from the inside and outside of it.

Caputo seems to do automatic writing when getting messages from supposed dead people for her clients, a common way to get information from fallen angels. Anthony William seems to “hear” his source/s. I think both Caputo and William often make guesses, but because of what they do and because they promote spirit contact, I have no doubt they are in touch with fallen angels. The mediums and others with guides do not think the guides are fallen angels but rather believe them to be benevolent (or to be the dead).

Consulting anyone who claims communication with the dead or with angels (spirits) is forbidden by God. See list of passages in the CANA post on Anthony William and his angels at end.

THE LONG ISLAND MEDIUM

Many find it amazing that the Long Island Medium is a regular New York City area housewife. Yes, she is! Most mediums, psychics, astrologers, card readers, numerologists, etc. are day-to-day people. I was a professional licensed astrologer and was married with a son and lived in a low cost duplex. I did not advertise except with business cards. Most of my clientele came via word-of-mouth.

There are people who do this who are scam artists – they usually have a storefront advertising their business.

Others, like Theresa Caputo, lead rather normal lives. Some believe Caputo is a fraud but, personally, I think she is part performer, who can cover up mistakes when being filmed and who at times may fish for info, but at other times she gets info from her guides, who are fallen angels (but this is not how she sees it). I do not believe she is trying to scam anyone. I knew too many like her when I was an astrologer.

She is NOT getting information from the dead, because no one can.

Anthony William then goes on to discuss the Angels of “Harmony, Solidarity, Insight, and Enrichment.” There is a podcast with Hay House, a New Age publisher, of Anthony William speaking on “Secrets About Angels” in which he continually refers to “Spirit” and states we have a “God-given birthright to have help from and access to the angels” (see link at end to CANA post on Spirit).

Naturally, there are no such angels, only fallen angels disguising themselves this way. This man who has written bestsellers and from whom so many take health advice considers himself an expert on angels and this is where he claims to get his information. Do you trust this man?

Anthony William is a medium. He makes no secret of this yet so many ignore his moniker, “Medical Medium.” Please take “medium” seriously. He communicates with spirits or sometimes he says “Spirit,” which refers to the world of spirits or his spirit guide (see link at end to CANA post on Spirit).

I cannot count how many people have commented on my previous 5 posts on AW (Anthony William) that he believes in God, or he is talking about the Holy Spirit when he says “Spirit.” Apparently, people who read his books have skipped or ignored these parts about the angels. One woman wrote this to me:

“…women in my neighborhood group are raving about hows it’s (AW’s book) helping. One said, I don’t know if he’s a medium or not but his methods are helping me.”

Sadly, pragmatism is alive and well. Pragmatism is “an approach that assesses the truth of meaning of theories or beliefs in terms of the success of their practical application.” The placebo effect, coincidence, and the self-limiting nature of most illnesses are ignored as factors.

In fact, several have commented to me that they or others have used AW’s advice and actually got worse.

“Sadly I been on his protocols as a results of desperation and it almost destroyed my health! I just want to warn everyone out there.It all starts really nice and it’s working and then it just slowly ‘killing you’ “

“Yes- I watched people’s health being destroyed!! I was a big fan for a season before getting saved. People after some time on his protocol were losing teeth and hair- besides being obsessed with him.”

A former New Ager, Lara Johansson, commented:
“This is how it always starts. If it was ugly from the beginning- no one would follow those teachings. There is always a trap in the beginning.. a brilliant disguise.”

AW has bestsellers and appears on TV only because he was initially promoted by New Age celebrity Gwyneth Paltrow on her famed GOOP blog. Just as Oprah has given many writers bestsellers by having them on her program, so Paltrow has given celebrity status to AW.

AW is all in favor of getting his readers and fans to contact these angels:

Of course, contacting angels, who are spirits, is forbidden by God. There is not a single instance in the Bible of anyone knowingly contacting or calling on angel. God sends his angels at his will, and only fallen angels respond to contact from humans.

AW does not believe in the true God, in Jesus, or in the Holy Spirit. He is like any other medium or psychic, and I am very familiar with mediums and psychics from having spent 20 years in the New Age. I even taught astrology at an organization that had psychics and mediums teaching as well and running the organization. They were my friends. I hung out with them. So I know what talking to “Spirit” means.

I have received comments on my previous AW posts that AW is talking about the Holy Spirit or a good angel, and that he believes in God. He does mention God but this is not the true God. It is the god believed in by psychics and mediums and spiritualists. And Spirit is not the Holy Spirit. Nor does the Holy Spirit give health advice. AW is in rebellion against God.

Moreover, AW has zero credentials in nutrition, diet, medicine, or anything at all that qualifies him to give health advice. He even has a disclaimer on his website to that effect. Yet he dispenses advice like he’s giving out candy. Please see links below to warnings on his junk science.

This is my 6th warning on AW. If this information is not enough to bother you, maybe what God says will bring it home (necromancers are mediums):

Comments from CANA
I don’t think many realize that occultists like AW can talk as though they are Christians or as though they believe in Jesus and the biblical God. They can use the same language, like saying “God” or “the Most High.” Consulting AW or taking his advice is no different from taking advice from any medium and his/her spirit guides.

IF YOU ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN, please consider who AW is getting this information from. Just who is the “Spirit of the Most High?” Do you think the “Most High” is really God? Why would God suddenly decide to have a “spirit” give medical information to someone like AW? Have you wondered what kind of God this is, or who God is?

God is the Creator of the universe. He knows all, cannot be confined, and is love, mercy, patience, wisdom, wrath on sin, just, peace, and goodness. He will judge one day because he cannot tolerate sin, which is why we know there is justice. None of us can reach God’s standards but he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for sins so that all who believe in Jesus can have eternal life. Jesus did this willingly and invites all to the dwelling places he prepares for those who believe (see John 14:2).
