It is well established, at least among many Christians, that demons can transfer via the act of fornication (sex outside of marriage). How so? Sex is more than a mere mechanical physical act. The Bible reads when two have sex together, they become one flesh (1 Cor. 6:16). Perhaps that is one of the reasons why God warns us to flee sexual immorality (1 Cor. 6:18) and even gives allowance to divorce one’s spouse on the grounds of adultery (Matt. 5:31-32). Anyone involved in deliverance ministry can tell you that prostitutes are some of the most heavily demonized people, which makes sense because of their promiscuous lifestyle. Also, demons can also transfer via the laying on of hands in “prayer” if the person who is “praying” is demonized. So, is it farfetched for demons to transfer when sexual abuse or molestation is involved?

I have come across way too many people who became demonized that were sexually abused to dismiss it as an insignificant correlation. I have asked deliverance ministers for confirmation and sure enough, they admitted it is indeed true victims of sexual abuse opens doors to the transference of evil spirits. I believe people who are victims of sexual abuse can pick up the unclean spirit, perhaps a spirit of perversion, lust, or promiscuity of some sort, from the perpetrator, even though the victim is innocent.

Let’s take a look at the sex industry. I think it is well known many people who are involved with the sex industry were sexually abused: “Between 66% and 90% of women in the sex industry were sexually abused as children” according to one source. Could it be a factor why many who get involved in stripping, prostitution, and the pornography industry is because they received an unclean spirit from a sexual abuser that influenced and manipulated them to go down that licentious route? There really is something more to it to why many sexual abuse victims are enslaved to unhealthy or illicit sexual patterns.

Other common long-term effects of childhood sexual abuse range from psychological harm, depression, panic disorders, risky sexual activity, psychotic and schizophrenic syndromes, to drug addictions [source]. Of course, the secular world has its theories for why victims are more at risk for having such disorders or behaviors, but they are ignorant of the reality of the spiritual world where satan’s kingdom is active, which can be a significant element.

Also, many perpetrators of sexual abuse were sexually abused themselves. They call it the victim-to-perpetrator cycle; in other words, those who are victims of sexual abuse as a child are more likely to become perpetrators as an adult than those who weren’t sexually abused as a child [source]. I believe that the unclean spirit that enters a child via sexual abuse desires to transfer into another person, as the devil desires to defile all people.

One recent example was reported in the news where a man claimed a sexual demon took over him to commit a horrific crime (most people, however, are unaware that their issue is fundamentally demonic):

Long said he consumed alcohol and marijuana prior to the Jan. 22 incident, according to the report……

“A sexual demon took over,” Long allegedly told detectives.

Long allegedly described the “sexual demon” as a “lustful spirit” that he’s had his entire life, after being molested as a child, himself. He admitted to engaging in sexual acts with the victim, police say, and invited the victim to do the same to him.

“It was because of the sexual desire,” Long allegedly said. “Fuel the beast and the sexual desire comes out.”

Another example of a person I believe has spirits of perversion and lust is the R&B singer R. Kelly, who has been in the news lately for accusations of gross sexual misconduct, ranging from child pornography to underage sex. The details of his alleged acts are too repulsive to mention. The accusations have been going on for years and there are quite numerous. Aside from that, a lot of his music is filled with sexually explicit lyrics (a reason not to listen to a lot of secular music as the spirit behind the music can influence a person), and his live stage performances are known to be very salacious.

According to his brother, R Kelly at the age of 6 was molested and raped by their older sister, Theresa, when she was 16 years old when she was put in charge of watching them whenever their mother was away at work. According to his testimony, she would have R. Kelly give her oral sex. So, not only was R. Kelly sexually abused as a child, but it was incestual which made the situation even more depraved. Involvement in incest alone can open a person to demonization. The unclean spirits manipulating R. Kelly were likely transferred into him by his sister. Those demons feed off the acts of fornication, promiscuity, and perversity which R. Kelly has apparently been enslaved to.

With all that said, there is absolutely no excuse to sexually abuse a person or engage in any sexual misconduct. It is a very wicked, gross sin. Every person has to take responsibility for their actions. However, there likely is a demonic component behind the act. Especially, if the person feels compelled to do such an act.

If you have been sexually abused, and feel compelled to abuse others, have perverse thoughts, extreme sexual addictions, have sexual nightmares or dreams, or have been living a very promiscuous lifestyle, etc. it could very well be that such a spirit was transferred into you.

Satan wants to defile everyone with unclean spirits, I believe that is one of the reasons why he uses perverts to sexually abuse others. The abused many times get involved in grievous sins, which opens the doors for even more demonic defilement. The extent of the devil’s cruelty and hatred for humanity has no bounds. He comes to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10), and he is like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour (1 Pet. 5:8). And one of the best ways for the enemy to achieve that is through ungodly sexuality and abuse.

If you have been a victim of sexual abuse, please know that there is a God who loves you. He loved you so much that He sent His only-begotten Son to be beaten and hung on the cross for your sins (and He was resurrected). There is hope, deliverance, and healing in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I don’t understand why God would allow someone to be affected in a way when it wasn’t the victim’s fault, however, I know God can heal and deliver.

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds” (Psalms 147:3).

“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit” (Psalms 34:18).

The Lord Jesus Christ said:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” (Luke 4:18).

and:

^“28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.³⁰ For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matt. 11:28-30).
