Red Flags About Tapping or (Emotional Freedom Technique) EFT

tapping-2

Involvement in Tapping or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is in essence no different from getting involved with Reiki. Tapping is based on spiritual beliefs and as far as I know not scientific.

Tapping has become more popular these days because of people like Dr. Joseph Mercola (he is known to promote dubious things), who is even popular with some Christians. Another one who has helped to popularize Tapping is Nick Ortner, who is the CEO of The Tapping Solution, a company with a mission to bring “natural healing” to the public via EFT. There are YouTube videos of others promoting Tapping with hundreds of thousands of views.

So what exactly is EFT/Tapping? It is a New Age alternative medical practice and “healing” modality. It was originally known as Emotional Field Therapy, a spinoff of TFT, Thought Field Therapy. It claims to relieve “phobias, panic/anxiety attacks, traumatic memories, guilt, grief, and physical ailments.” Tapping seems to involve self-soothing techniques and self-hypnosis from the repetitive tapping and repetitive statements one makes while practicing it. TFT is a collection of concepts derived from a variety of sources, such as chi, which is believed to be the life force “that flows throughout the body.” But what is really behind chi are demons! TFT burrows techniques from Muscle Testing (or Applied Kinesiology), which has also been exposed for its association with the demonic.

Tapping is even promoted to children. Parents beware.

Perhaps the smoking gun that Tapping comes from the demonic world is that it was created by an energy healer, Gary Craig. If there is a new thing, you go to the root of it and investigate the person who started it. He is an ordained minister in the Universal Church of God (a “church” that embraces all religions), which directly contradicts the very words of Jesus Christ when He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). Craig is a student of A Course in Miracles, which was channeled from the demonic realm. His discovery of Tapping came when he found out he could cure people, supposedly by using acupuncture (which one should beware of) without needles. According to Craig, “EFT is an emotional form of acupuncture, except that we don’t use needles.” He supposedly stimulates so-called energy meridian points with his fingertips. Craig is not a medical Doctor but is “a Standford engineering graduate and an ordained minister and, although we don’t pound the table for [the Biblical] God here, I do come at this procedure from a decidedly spiritual perspective.” Craig’s mentor was Dr. Roger Callahan, the creator of Thought Field Therapy.

An EFT (Tapping) chart.

What is very concerning is that Craig is open about Tapping being a spiritually-based practice:

“…Please know that there are two levels of EFT. The level you are currently exploring is the Gold Standard (or Tapping) form of EFT that is in the hands of millions worldwide and has been imitated by hundreds of people. It forms a foundation for our more advanced spiritual level known as Optimal EFT.”

Gary Craig extended his original “Gold Standard EFT” to create “Optimal EFT.” Optimal EFT doesn’t involve tapping, but is rather a kind of “prayer” with an “Unseen Therapist.” Optimal EFT is meant to help the “Guard at the Gate” (who keeps us separated) to allow the Unseen Therapist to bring healing. Craig claims the Unseen Therapist goes by the names of God, Jesus, Yahweh, and the Holy Spirit, among other names such as Source, Buddha, Love, and Peace. The Unseen Therapist, “the healer within,” is referred to as a woman. Gary Craig references her quite openly on his website, as do several of his followers in his testimonials.

Craig also stated:

“To do Her work, She needs only your readiness and proper invitation.”

It seems Craig thinks of this entity as a divine being when references to it are capitalized. Also, notice that one needs to invite her to do her “work” on a person. This is a common procedure for inviting contact with a spirit guide. Spirit guides can come unbidden, but a lot of times the enemy needs a person to open the “doors” to come into his/her life. In this case, inviting “her” can be even more dangerous, and make the person guiltier for doing it.

There is absolutely no doubt this is a spirit guide, which is an evil spirit, or demon! It doesn’t take much discernment to know this is a deception from satan.

Using Tapping is hardly no different from using Reiki or any other form of so-called energy healing except that one can do Tapping to himself/herself, which cannot be done normally with Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, or other forms of energy healing.

EFT is in the same category as these practices, which are all based on a belief in occult energy or force and a “divine intelligence” or “inner wisdom” of the body. Beware of the following, such as:

Reiki

Therapeutic Touch

CranioSacral Therapy

Applied Kinesiology

Do people really get healed by Tapping? Maybe. We know satan’s kingdom can “heal” people. Satan’s kingdom is notorious for being behind a plethora of healing techniques, and many are being ensnared by it.

Born-again Christians don’t rely on any Unseen Therapist for healing. Christians have the Holy Spirit because they believe in the Lord and God Jesus Christ of the Bible. This pseudo-religious, mystical therapy program doesn’t remedy the fundamental problem of each person, which is sin. The remedy for sin is to repent and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ, for He is the only One who can take away our sins. The Bible reads Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19).

It is not God’s will to tap away our negative emotions. The Bible reads we are to give our burdens to Him. Jesus said: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls” (Matthew 11:28-29).

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can receive Him into your heart, and He can deliver you from darkness and sin and have your name written in His Book of Life.

If you are sincere, you can say this simple prayer to the Father (it doesn’t have to be word for word):

“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins just as I forgive others. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”

Is Tapping really based on spiritual beliefs? Actually it is not. It is very different from Reiki. There are over 100+ evidence based clinical studies. It is highly effective for Veterans with PTSD. There is a difference between Chinese medicine and Chinese religion. This is not religion. Science is now proving the meridian system exists. It is a tiny tiny micro vascular system. Real photos inside body are available to see it injected with blue stain like dye. https://abundantlifecoaches.com/faqs ‘Is EFT Safe for Christians?’

    Dear Jamal:

I don’t know if you remember Steven & me. You prayed for us. He passed away on his Birthday 5 8 19.

I cautiously asked many question.about any New Age practices before going to a Christian counselor. Her name is Melissa Heil and the counseling service is Courageous Kingdom Counseling Bend OR. I did a 1.5 hour intake session with her last Saturday and have another appt this Saturday. I asked her a number of questions about her beliefs, etc as Steven and I came out if the New Age. I asked her to pray before we started and she asked if she could pray before I left. She seemed to check out ok. I also asked her to recommend a couple of doctors and/or naturopathic christian docs. She mentioned one that was into irodology and I said no.

She uses a technique called edmr. I told her I hadn’t heard of that before and I would check it out. I didn’t find that it was New AGE but I do want to run this past you.

I know for sure that even Christians can be deceived (and she seems like a wonderful person and Christian -I didn’t decern anything as I have in the past) as Steven & I were about Refexology.

    Thank you,

    Karen

    1. Hello. I remember you. I am sorry about your loss. I hope everything is going well with you now.

I know Iridology can be potentially dangerous. I am not so sure about EMDR. I will post about it if I come across information that makes it worthy to be exposed. Thanks and God bless.

Hi! EMDR works by stimulating both sides of your brain at the same time. It can be done by just crossing the arms and tapping your legs. It’s just a way to help your whole brain be engaged. Some dyslexia clinics do something similar when they have kids do activities involving both sides of the brain, strengthening the connection between various parts, because your brain has to have efficient communication to be able to read. With EMDR, you are trying to help all parts of your brain work together. Sometimes the brain will section off a part of itself because of trauma. It’s protective, but if that area of the brain is not fully connected to the rest of the brain, this will obviously cause problems. As Christians we want our frontal lobe, where we communicate with God, in charge of the whole brain. EMDR is just a way to help stimulate both sides of the brain while working through trauma.

Satan is the “accuser of the brethren” (Rev. 12:10, Job 1:6; Zech. 3:1), as seeking to uphold his influence among men by bringing false charges against Christians, with the view of weakening their influence and injuring the cause with which they are identified. He was regarded by the Jews as the accuser “of men before God, laying to their charge the violations of the law of which they were guilty, and demanding their punishment”. The same Greek word, “accuser,” is found in (John 8:10, Acts 23:30) in all of which places it is used of one who brings a charge against another.

Clinical EFT is Now Scientifically Proven.
Now able to use radioactive dye to see the system that is smaller than the nervous system.
The EFT tapping has to do with the physiology, not religion nor new age, although new agers do use. Like Christians go to doctors when needed, new agers also go to doctors when needed.

Hi, I was wondering what specifically kinds of problems Christians are having with EFT tapping. A couple Christians said in Youtube comments that they had to quit tapping because it was addictive. But they didn’t explain what that meant.

Thanks Axley for responding. I found some info in the BrainTrainer’s Youtube comments about EFT tapping. This woman who is now a Christian used to be into New Age occultism, and she believes tapping is a Satanic gateway into the more extreme aspects of the occult. I don’t know, I don’t think the Christian tappers are being completely honest with us about this so called EFT tapping!

Nick. Did you happen to use the link that goes to pubmed? There are over 100+ clinical scientific studies on this.

And 2nd it is now visually proveable also with blue stain dye. It is micro vascular system in the body. Previous link leads to photos.

Axley, I haven’t read all yr Pubmeds, but the ones I’ve read simply find it to be effective. So is witchcraft. I am not saying EFT is witchcraft, the jury is still a little out for me. But it has the ritual aspect, the spirit guide aspect and no matter how much you dress these up in effectiveness, it still amounts to occultism. I would like to see the studies which show how the brain is affected specifically. I would like to be able to at least project how this could work scientifically.

Yes, there are microvessels. That doesn’t prove EFT is scientific.

The bottom line for those who follow and obey Jesus Christ, is that anything at all which gets in the way of that obedience becomes a problem. Some of this is obvious but some isn’t.

We are asked to place our faith in Jesus, nothing else.

We should seek to understand first before we condemn and put labels.
    EFT has scientific evidence.
Seems our ancestors Knew more about how our Body works than we do.

As I wrote to Axel. I need to see the scientific evidence of how it is supposed to work NOT simply that is does work. Witchcraft also ‘works’. I have noticed people seem to conflate the fact something works with the assumption it is also good. I know it works. But is it a ‘save the body, kill the soul’ therapy? I am trying to figure that out.

I think a lot of this is complete nonsense. these things are scientifically proven to help people especially with mental health issues ie: tapping, myofascial, craniosacral. Jesus can heal people yes and he does, but even Luke in the Bible was known as the dear physician. I don’t understand why people are being so crazy about “energy” when it’s just fricken electrons going through your nervous system. That’s how the nervous system works. Isn’t that how God made us? I don’t understand how crazy people are getting over this.

I am a natural therapist. Myofascial is legit. There is pathophisiology and a clear mechnism of action. Please provide the studies that demonstrate how EFT works. Again, people conflate the fact something works with the assumption it is also good. I know EFT works. Witchcraft also works. Show me the pathophysiology and mechanism of action. I don’t need more evidence that it is effective

I last posted in August 2021. I just wanted to explain my thoughts about what I’ve experienced since then. I continued to tap (EFT) this whole time. It seemed like it was sort of working, and that’s why I continued to tap, but the problem was that it never really kicked in! In my opinion tapping is a hoax. And I was getting side effects too. So even if this activity is not “demonic” like Reiki, I think it could still be defined as an “occult mind science.” Amen.

    Nick here.
I just have to revise what I said two days ago. I was praying to God and studying the Youtube videos of the Christian ex-New Agers. I’m finally getting deeper insight into why EFT tapping never really helped. In my opinion, psychotherapy is an occult mind science, like CBT for example. But the EFT tapping is full blown demonic oppression. Even two years ago when I first started tapping, it always felt like I was under “light demonic attack.” On the other hand, psychotherapy is a mind screw, and I saved a lot of negative comments from several websites from many people who have complained that psychotherapy was worthless. Many of these people still thought they could get benefits if they just “found the right therapist.” Ultimately, I think healing comes from taking action, which I was never strong on. The common denominator of all “therapies” is that they focus is on analyzing, thinking, introspection, etc. As Nicole Kidman said in The Human Stain, “Thought is the enemy of action.” That could be why psychotherapy doesn’t work (For many people at least).
