Red Flags About Splankna

The issue with Splankna is that it takes the methods and doctrines derived from Eastern mysticism and tries to “Christianize” them. Splankna is wholly based on New Age spirituality, and the Splankna Therapy Institute admits as much on their website: “The only developers of these tools have come from a New Age perspective.” Discerning Christians know that it’s impossible to put a Christian face on paganism.

The following is an excellent response from a former New Ager turned Christian:

I have warned several times on Splankna, an alleged therapy started and practiced by Christians. It is based completely on New Age principles and beliefs. I have read the Splankna book and training materials, and took notes. Those promoting Splankna misunderstand what science is and are taking a New Age view of the body as valid. They do not understand the faulty basis of the New Age worldview. Here’s an example from a comment of someone defending Splankna. I hope you can see the fallacies in it — there are several.

We didn’t know that lightning was a form of energy that we would harness one day and use to power our world. But, God did. Energy is energy, and it was all created by God. Our bodies are not just flesh and bones. People can bring illness and disease on themselves from stored emotions. That’s a form of energy, too. Just because something has been labeled new age by the church doesn’t mean it is. We are spiritual beings with a direct connection to the Source of all life and love and healing, and our bodies are very intricate creations that are meant to walk in health and peace. How many people do you think have had dying hearts, only to be healed by the love of God after doctors gave up? How many people have caused their bodies to turn on themselves because of stored negative emotions? Cancer? Digestive issues? It’s not all function, food, and environment. I recommend you stop feeding fear and let God’s people let the Spirit guide them.

See the fallacies? Faulty arguments?

🚩 “Energy”The fallacy of equivocation is made with the word “energy.” They are equating physical energy that we can observe and measure like electricity with spiritual occult “energy” such as chi/qi/ki, prana, Vitalism, New Age “energy,” and others that are similar to these concepts.

🚩 “We are spiritual beings.” Depends on what is meant by that. We are not spirit beings. We are human beings who have material and immaterial components but that does not validate Splankna in any way. It is irrelevant to any argument for Splankna.

🚩 “Meant to walk in health and peace.” Yes, before the Fall that was God’s intent but man sinned and now we live in a fallen world in fallen bodies. God does not promise either health or mental/emotional peace in the way Splankna teaches it. Those who have trusted in Christ do have the peace of Christ but that does not mean we don’t have troubles in this life. Perfect health and freedom from problems is the future life after this world in a resurrected body for those who have trusted in Christ.

🚩 “Stored negative emotions.” This idea that all illness comes from stored negative emotions is a baseless one and is a key in much New Age healing theories and practices. In fact, Splankna uses New Age theories about the body, emotions, and healing as its own ideas and methods. If the New Age as an entity could sue Splankna for stealing material, they would have a case.

Looking at the Splankna Website

Splankna is a Christian attempt to Christianize New Age concepts with something called Splakna Energy Therapy. It is based on the pseudo-sciences of Thought Field Therapy and Neuro-Emotional Technique. They also use the faulty New Age practice of Muscle Testing.

The statements on this site are such a blatant example of bad biblical interpretation and Christian-New Age syncretism that one hardly knows where to start. There are growing numbers of Splankna practitioners in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. They have a certification program which must be updated every 2 years. Below are some excerpts with my comments.

The call on our lives has been to separate the created mechanisms of Energy Psychology from New Age theology and redeem these tools for the Body of Christ.

From Splankna site

Proponents of Splankna think they are able to remove New Age concepts and somehow make it into a valid Christian practice, but redefining terms to make them mean something else changes nothing. We cannot redeem beliefs or practices rooted in false beliefs or in evil.

“Energy” is the word physicists use to describe the unknown force that causes the sub-atomic particles to move. It is not used in the strict sense, but metaphorically. This sub-atomic motion has structure within the body.

From Splankna site

Note contradiction! If “energy” is an “unknown force,” how can it also be connected to subatomic particles? Aside from that, it is not true that when physicists use the term “energy” that they are referring to the “energy” in New Age beliefs.

This page on the Splankna site promotes the occult beliefs in the Meridian System, Neuro-Emotional Technique, and Thought Field Therapy. They base this on acupuncture and chiropractic, neither of which is a medical or science-based system.

The meridian line is said to be invisible, which is convenient since it does not exist. There is no evidence for a meridian line or system. This comes from Taoist beliefs and is a core belief in New Age healing therapies. It is not medical or biological. Healing in ancient China was based largely on spiritual beliefs (as is true of many ancient cultures, especially those suffused with animism and shamanism) and limited understanding of how the body functions; therefore, many methods in the New Age alternative industry today are based on faulty knowledge of the body and on spiritual beliefs. This is partly because the New Age reveres that which is ancient.

The other two systems have no basis in objective data or science about the body. They are based on spiritual beliefs.

On the same page, it is stated:

Quantum physics shows us that our attention also affects those sub-atomic particles. One of the many mysterious properties of the quantum level is that sub-atomic particles cannot be observed with objectivity.

They make the same mistake made by New Agers. You cannot extrapolate from the subatomic world to the larger physical world. They misuse limited knowledge of quantum physics found on many New Age sites and try to use that to validate Splankna. Quantum physics does not support any of the Splankna views.

On other pages, they try to explain that Splankna is not New Age or witchcraft. But they fail because they are redefining terms and they are reading meanings in Scripture that are not there.

🔹 Christ’s power is not an “energy” because in no way is He a part of creation. To do so is to declare Christ is impersonal and composed of created matter.

…..

🔹 Splankna teaches Applied Kinesiology, which is a bogus and New Age/occult based practice. The training is for:*Christian Counselors interested in a Biblical application of mind-body techniques.*Believing professionals in Chiropractics, Massage Therapy,*Nutrition or other holistic disciplines looking for effective tools for handling the emotional component that often surfaces in their work.*Pastors in need of biblically sound tools to expedite heavy counseling loads in their ministries.

My point in posting the above excerpt is to make sure you are not consulting someone who has studied and/or uses Splankna since it seems to have spread to several professions and health workers. It appears that Splankna, and indeed New Age beliefs, are certainly roaming the church as a prowling lion.

Note they admit that Splankna “is not medical” and is “experimental,” and the effectiveness, risks, and benefits “are not fully known.” This is the equivalent to a thousand red flags. This disclaimer is also in the Splankna book.

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you can receive Him into your heart and He can deliver you from darkness and sin and have your name written in His Book of Life.

If you are sincere you can say this simple prayer to the Father (it doesn’t have to be word for word):

“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins just as I forgive others. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”

Hold fast to Jesus Christ in these confusing, tumultuous, brazen, sinful, chaotic and spiritually dangerous times, for these times are indeed deceptive!

Keep a Holy Bible close, pray to Jesus Christ, have good Christian friends, associates and acquaintances, and be vigilant against ‘new age’ or anything else contradictory to the Gospel that Jesus Christ died for! All the rest is propaganda!

I have to say that I think you are dead wrong. I experienced a tremendous breakthrough, through the Splankna protocol. We must stop being afraid and take full advantage of every method and all the good that God has created for our healing. Consider that God created us, including the way our body fires on electrical impulses etc. I had zero checks in my spirit and received an enormous benefit. I have been a worship leader, small group leader and elder in the church for 25 years and I can say this is the first time I truly understood what people meant when they talked about how much they love Jesus. Just because New Age folks have recognized something that works, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t created by God. We throw the baby out with the bathwater way too much in the Christian faith and miss out for it.
