What is the Gospel?
The Gospel is simply the Good News about what the Lord and God Jesus Christ did for us to receive the gift of salvation.
The Bible reads: “15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” – 1 Cor. 15:1-4.
You are a sinner!
The Bible is clear that we all have rebelled against God and are children of wrath (Ephesians 2:3). No self-righteous person would ever be able to legitimately justify himself before God (Luke 18:9–14). Let me ask you this: have you ever lied? The answer is yes. It only takes one sin to be separated from God (Romans 6:23). Because of our sin, we need a Savior.
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all” – Isaiah 53:6
“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” – Isaiah 64:6
“for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” – Romans 3:23
“For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” – Ecclesiastes 7:20
“10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” – Romans 3:10-12
We are all in bondage and a slave to sin without God
The Bible reads unbelievers are slaves to sin and controlled by the devil (Ephesians 2:1-3). Only Jesus Christ can set us free (John 8:36). He is the only One who has the power to break the bondage of sin.
Only God can give us a clean heart and sanctify us (Psalms 51:10; Hebrews 13:12; 1 Thessalonians 5:23). In fact, the Bible reads God can give a new heart and a new spirit (Ezekiel 36:26).
“Jesus answered them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.'” – John 8:34
“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” – Romans 6:16
Because of our sins, we all deserve the wrath of God
This is probably one of the hardest for the average person to accept: that he or she deserves hell because of the person’s unforgiven sin. To God, sin is a very serious matter yet most people commit sin daily without any conviction. Sin committed against God is not like sin committed against other people. Sinning against an infinite being requires an infinite punishment, which for finite creatures, can only be experienced as eternal punishment. We can’t accurately gauge how an infinitely holy God responds to even the smallest human sin.
“For the wages of sin is death [hell]; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 6:23
“Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.” – Ephesians 2:13
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” – John 3:36
Hell is a real place where the unsaved will go
As opposed to what the cults teach, death is not merely an illusion, something good, eternal extinction, a door to heaven or the next life, or multiple lives (reincarnation). Once one dies he/she either goes to one of two places: heaven or hell. The Bible reads it is appointed a man to die once then after this the judgment (Hebrews 9:27). There is no second chance once judged. Hell may be ridiculed and doubted in the minds of many people, and it is universally denied in the cults, but the truth is hell is a reality. Jesus gave stern warnings about hell. All people who die in their sins will invariably end up in an everlasting fire, which was initially made for the devil and his angels.
“For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.” – Luke 16:28
“But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.” – Matthew 5:22
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him [God] which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” – Matthew 10:28
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” – Matthew 25:46
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” – Revelation 21:8
Heaven is also a real place
Jesus said we can be glorified and exalted with Him. This world is all that a Christian is ever to endure, and it is all the heaven that unbelievers shall ever enjoy.
“who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” – Philippians 3:21
“And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.” – Revelation 22:5
In God’s love and grace, He sent His unique Son to die (but was resurrected) for the sins of many
Since we were doomed because of our sin, God provided us a way to salvation. It is because of the atonement of Christ that we can be saved. God’s grace is clearly exemplified in the death of Christ for our sins.
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” – 2 Corinthians 5:21
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
“And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” – John 6:40
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
“And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” – 1 John 2:2
“God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him” – 1 John 4:9
“Who [Jesus] gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity” – Tit. 2:14
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” – 1 Peter 2:24
God commands everyone to repent!
God commands us to repent of our sexual immorality, unbelief, drugs, drunkenness, lewdness, partying, lying, witchcraft, false god worship, and other sins (Galatians 5:19-21; Revelation 21:8). The Bible even reads friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God (James 4:4). Turn from your own ways and turn to the true and living God!
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” – Proverbs 28:13
“From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” – Matthew 4:17
“14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” – Matthew 6:14-15
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.“ – Matthew 7:21-23

“45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 46 where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: 48 where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” – Mark 9:45-48
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” – Acts 3:19

“3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.” – Ephesians 5:3-5
“20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.” – Revelation 9:20-21
Only by Jesus Christ can we receive the gift of salvation
Eternal life cannot be earned by works or personal righteousness since eternal life is only found with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which one can be saved (Acts 4:12).

If you are sincere you can say this simple prayer to the Father (it doesn’t have to be word for word):
“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins just as I forgive others. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”
