“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” — Proverbs 14:12
“…that serpent of old called the Devil and Satan, who deceiveth the whole world. He was cast out onto the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” — Revelation 12:9

The Bible reads to beware of the wiles of the devil (Eph. 6:11). Is New Age intuition just another one of his deceptions? Indeed, in the New Age world, intuition is a cover for demonic revelation. Psychic powers are being masked as intuitive abilities, which really originate from the demonic world. These psychic abilities are often seen as latent “human potential” and just a normal human process. How does one distinguish natural human intuition from psychic powers?
In the New Age Movement, intuition is anything but a neutral term. The term “intuition” is regularly an euphemism for such things as psychic development, spiritistic (really demonic) inspiration, and so-called “higher” (occult) consciousness. I have searched the hashtag Intuition on Instagram and got millions of hits. Just about every post with the hashtag “Intuition” had a New Age flavor to it, and the person behind the post is almost always invariably involved with other New Age practices.
Distinguishing Natural Intuition from New Age Intuition
Let it be very clear, I am not addressing natural human intuition, which I think we all have experienced moments of it at some point in our lives. There are several names for intuition, such as instinct or gut feelings. Intuition is defined by Merriam-Webster as “the power or faculty of attaining to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference”; or a “quick and ready insight.” A person may intuitively know he or she is in grave danger or that their spouse is committing adultery. According to the Bible, people ought to intuitively know that the Creator God exists and thus is without excuse on Judgment Day (Rom. 1:19-20). There is nothing supernatural or mystical about normal intuition, which can be based on subtle clues picked up from the environment (however, human intuition is fallible and may even be plain wrong). That is a non-issue and not what is exposed here. What is exposed here is the intuition that seems to come from spiritistic influence, especially in the world of the New Age. That is problematic. It is demonic!
What is New Age Intuition?

For many New Agers, intuition is a kind of “divine inspiration” or, as one New Ager on YouTube puts it, “a voice inside the body,” and rational thinking and spiritual discernment are often thrown out the window. There is a danger of leading one’s life based on intuitive impulses, which disregard any critical thinking and careful planning, especially when there is the possibility of psychic involvement under the guise of developing intuition. The more one is involved in this, the greater the opportunity for psychic abilities or intuition to be redefined as a normal human process.
Those involved in occult activities who unquestioningly follow their “intuition” are just as likely to be wrong as right, and they are just as likely to be recipients of demonic influence or inspiration. When it comes to medical diagnosis and treatment, following such “intuition” can also be dangerous. An endless number of New Age therapists and healers claim to use this so-called intuition in both diagnosis and treatment. It is via “intuition” that many New Age therapists claim to be able to “diagnose” physical problems and prescribe methods of treatment or remedies.
Some courses seek to develop New Age intuition, typically through New Age meditation and visualization (which itself can open doors to demonization), and are likely forms of psychic development. People today are taking classes, reading books, watching videos, etc., to help develop their “intuition.”
In the world of the New Age and the occult, “developing intuition” is indistinguishable from developing psychic abilities. Intuition becomes the avenue to expand one’s consciousness in order to enter altered states or experience occult transformation. In reality, however, intuition cannot be developed because it cannot be controlled by the human will.
When one psychic calls it “normal human intuition,” another psychic says it is derived from the powers of the spirits. In the New Age, intuition and spiritistic inspiration are regularly confused and conflated, both semantically and phenomenally. New Agers routinely call it intuition, and in certain social contexts, it just sounds better. It is far more acceptable and palatable, especially in scientific or academic circles, to speak of one’s intuition, rather than to risk ridicule by confessing to guidance from the spirit world or nebulous spirits. Although there are indeed a lot of people who accept and believe in the influence of spirits.
The Devil Using Intuition for His Agenda

Interestingly, those who contact the spirits (really demons) say that the spirits themselves emphasize the importance of “intuition.” Why would spirits be interested in promoting “intuition” if it didn’t serve their purposes? This alone is a tell-tale sign it’s not of God.
I believe the spirits’ goal in all of this is to equate their influence and revelations with normal human intuition. Once a person is reeled in by the spirits, psychic abilities and various paranormal or supernatural inspirations become a natural aspect of the supposed psychological powers of human consciousness. Once trained by the spirits, a person is often incapable of distinguishing normal intuition from occult suggestion. The spirits want people to think that by using intuition in the manner they suggest, people are only engaging in a safe, natural process unencumbered by occult trappings. People who follow their advice become victims of demonic inspiration. Behind the guise of intuition, the spirits can carry out their agenda—it’s a clever deception and snare orchestrated by satan’s kingdom. Doesn’t the Bible read that satan is the one who deceives the whole world (Rev. 12:9)?
Indeed, demonic spirits have the capacity to mimic the process of normal human intuition, making it difficult to detect their influence. One’s intuition appears entirely natural, and yet it is a really demonic inspiration! One with discernment can easily see the red flags. Most involved in it cannot determine when such inspiration comes from their own mind and when it comes from the spirit world.
Christian authors John Ankerberg and John Weldon said, “It is the very idea of ‘developing’ intuition that takes us outside the realm of true intuition. By ‘developing’ intuition, one is leaving normal intuition behind and opening the doors to the psychic world; one is abandoning the region of mind alone, and moving into a realm where one can interface with the supernatural world.”

When demonic spirits intend to mimic human intuition, how does a person distinguish it from normal intuition when he or she receives their inspiration? Several psychics, mediums, spiritists, and other occultists admit to times when it is impossible to distinguish between their own intuition and what they receive from their spirit guides.
The indistinguishability of spiritist inspiration and intuition was admitted by several leading scientists, such as the late parapsychologist Andrija Puharich, by prominent psychics, such as the late Uri Geller, and by so-called intuitives, such as Robert Leichtman, M.D.
Of course, there are many cases when spiritistic inspiration is direct and can easily be perceived. But when the spirits choose to, they can influence the human mind so that their influence remains discreet, and this is where the problem lies. How does any New Ager using what he or she thinks is “intuition” know that it is really intuition as opposed to spiritistic, that is, demonic, inspiration? Do not be deceived!
The only One who can open the eyes of those caught up in such a deception is the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and the only way to the Father (John 14:6).
If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can receive Him into your heart, and He can deliver you from darkness and sin and have your name written in His Book of Life.
If you are sincere, you can say this simple prayer to the Father (it doesn’t have to be word for word):
“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins just as I forgive others. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”
