Let’s not beat around the bush. Horror movies are products of the devil. There is even one horror movie where its official website had a link called “Convert” used as an invitation, in the form of a bribe, to become a satanist and make a public confession of one’s allegiance.
It’s possible many of the ideas for these movies are channeled to the filmmakers from the demonic realm. The screenwriter/producer of the film The Exorcist got information for the screenplay via the Ouija Board [source]. Makers of horror movies relish in showing bloodshed, gore, gratuitous violence, the glorification of the occult, and instilling fear. However, the Bible reads Christians are to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely of good report, virtuous, and of praise (Phil. 4:8); and the Psalmist said he will put no wicked thing before his eyes (Ps. 101:3).
It has been known that indulging in horror movies can lead to demonic oppression. Repent of watching such movies!
Testimony of a person who was demonically attacked after watching The Conjuring:
Edit:
Update to share that I recently prayed for a Christian woman who opened herself to demonization from watching a horror movie called The Rite. She said she got traumatizing images of the movie in her head, which prevented her from sleeping and concentrating. It got so bad she thought about taking her own life. This is more confirmation of how potentially dangerous watching such movies can be.
If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can receive Him into your heart, and He can deliver you from darkness and sin and have your name written in His Book of Life.
If you are sincere, you can say this simple prayer to the Father (it doesn’t have to be word for word):
“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins just as I forgive others. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”
Pingback: Demonic Doorways and Signs of Demonization – Deliverance From Demons In Jesus' Name
I remember watching I think it was poltergeist when I was eight years old. I was so frightened that for years afterwards I thought a demon was under my bed and was going to pull me under. There was a scene in that movie where that happened. From the age of eight till about 12 I would jump or leap of my bed because I was so frightened that the demon was underneath my bed. And this is before I knew anything about the demonic realm.

Horror movies are one thing that can cause demonization. I say that any movie whether it is horrific, or even an action movie, or any movie that glorifies violence, and treats human life as insubordinate; everyone should stay away from that.
