Dr. Phil is Blind to the Reality of Spiritual Warfare

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” – Ephesians 6:12

On the Dr. Phil Show, John claimed his son, Jack (12 years old), is possessed by demons.

According to John, Jack has threatened to burn the house down. He has kicked and punched the mom and threatened to stab her with a knife.

John said when his son was two years old, he woke up to Jack placing pieces of glass around his mother’s neck with the edges tilted towards her while she was asleep so if she turned, she would get injured. When dad asked what he was doing, he said in a raspy voice, “to make mom look pretty.”

The son admitted he has seen the demon himself. He drew a picture of the devil at age 7. He has done many other evil acts, such as stolen many things and threatened to commit suicide.

It looks like Dr. Phil does not believe the boy is possessed. “The chance of this young man being demon-possessed is something less than zero,” Dr. Phil said. He believes Jack just has “mental illness”.

The son has been diagnosed with several mental illnesses over the years and has been on over 50 medications, but nothing seems to help calm him down.

It is quite obvious to me the child is possessed or demonized. The son has telltale signs of being demonized such as extremely defiant, rebellious, out of control, violent behavior, and hateful towards parents. The changing voice is another sign, and so is having a glazed look over the eyes. The dad said when he prayed for him while he was asleep, he would start to get uneasy, which is not an uncommon occurrence when one is demonized [For more info on signs of demonization].

Dr. Phil is blind and doesn’t know the reality of spiritual warfare. The scripture reads, “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness” (1 Cor. 1:39) rightly applies to Dr. Phil. It’s too bad he doesn’t believe the child was possessed when he had such a platform to expose the devil’s works.

Feeding 12-year-old pharmaceutical drugs is not going to cure him. Doctors don’t have an answer for what is fundamentally a spiritual problem. What he needs is the Lord and God Jesus Christ for deliverance.

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can receive Him into your heart, and He can deliver you from darkness and sin and have your name written in His Book of Life.

If you are sincere, you can say this simple prayer to the Father (it doesn’t have to be word for word):

“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins, just as I forgive others. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”

  1. Dr. Phil is of the world, and can’t receive the things of God because they are spiritually discerned. He also knows that most of his followers as well as sponsors fall in the same category. I know a lot about demon possession, and that demon oppression or possession will invariably manifest in many ways that appear the individual has mental issues, (which they do). Demons will make you crazy in one way or another. This boy has no ability to control himself. He needs deliverance. Dr. Phil can’t help him and I’m not sure his dad and buddies will be able to either.
