“Suyko Mahiriki is a cult that is an offshoot of Mahiriki originating in the 20th century in Japan and is attributed to Yoshikazu Okada. The goal is to attain happiness by practicing universal principle (Sukyo) and a method of spiritual purification called the “Light (Mahikari)”. Membership is estimated to be 100,00 to 3 million. Okada supposedly received a revelation from “su-God” and was given a healing mission. He claimed to be the physical embodiment of Yonimasu-o-amatsu, a Shinto demon. He was often woken up in the early hours of the morning by god and these ‘revelations’ flowed through him via automatic writing, a form of demonic channeling, and wrote their bible called Goseigen. He is believed to be sent to save humankind and given a divine role of the Japanese people as chosen for the last as the seed people or chosen ones (Mahikari members). Core teachings of Sukyo Mahikari are that the origin of all religions is one and all religions sprang from Japan which is supposedly the spiritual and physical origin of the human race and that God Jehovah is a Japanese God. They also claim Moses went to Japan when he disappeared from Mt. Sinai and was trained by Shinto priests and given the Star of David to take back to Israel. They teach the use of “God’s True Light” for the purification of all pollutants, spiritual, mental, and physical. When a member is initiated, they receive a pendant that is used to focus on the light. Suffering results from “dust” that accumulates on the soul, and the dust can be wiped away through the purchase of an amulet and raising one’s hand over another’s forehead. They teach Mahikari is one of many paths leading to the same Universal Truth, which contradicts Jesus’ words that He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). Okada apparently was used and deceived by a demonic spirit as he claims it is a lie that Jesus died on a cross, but instead His younger brother died, which is similar to the claim of Islam stating that it was Judas who died in Jesus’ place. This contradicts the eternal Gospel found in the Bible—Jesus the only Son of God died on the cross for the sins of the world and was resurrected. “Purification” can only come by the blood of Jesus Christ, which cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7).”

I acknowledge the completed work of Your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”
