I was contacted by someone who received a massage from a Reflexology practitioner who even claimed to be a Christian. Soon after, she had severe symptoms of demonization. The evil spirits within the practitioner likely transferred into the client.
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is an alternative medicine system that claims to treat internal organs by pressing on designated spots on the feet and hands; there is no anatomical connection between those organs and those spots. Systematic reviews in 2009 and 2011 found no convincing evidence that reflexology is an effective treatment for any medical condition.
According to the book, Encyclopedia of New Age Beliefs, Reflexology is under the classification of Mystical and “Supernaturalistic Health Related-Methods”.
The following is from an ex-New Ager who became a Christian:
REFLEXOLOGY WARNING 201
By Marcia Montenegro
… Both Tapping and Reflexology are based on belief in chi, a supposed universal energy that flows through alleged invisible channels in the body called meridians.
There is also the belief that parts of the body correspond to and connect to organs. The soles of the feet (and parts of the hands and ears) are viewed in Reflexology as connected to major organs in the body. Therefore, pressing on these areas can affect and bring healing to that organ. This is totally false. The bottoms of the feet do not connect to the organs.
Reflexology and foot massage are two different things. Reflexology has managed to market itself as a type of massage and so gain more followers. Don’t be fooled. It is a practice based entirely on the belief systems of Taoism. Taoism teaches that all comes from the Tao and goes back to the Tao. But if one speaks of the Tao, one is not really speaking of the Tao since it can’t be spoken of. This is self-refuting of course, since to say one cannot speak of the Tao actually is speaking of the Tao.
Zen Buddhism came from Chan in China which was a fusion of Buddhism and Taoism. As someone who followed Zen Buddhist ideas for many years as a New Ager, and absorbed some Taoist principles as well, I can see the influence of Taoism on Zen, and the influence of Taoism on much of what is termed “alternative” or “complementary” healing modalities.
Practices based on beliefs in chi, the meridians, and related to chi include, but are not limited to:
Acupuncture
Acupressure
Shiatsu
EFT/Tapping
Reflexology
Qigong (note the “Qi”)
Traditional Chinese Medicine (which is not biologically or scientifically based)
Moxibustion
Jin Shin Jyutsu
Tai Chi (note the “Chi”)
Aikido (a martial art; note the “ki”)
There are many others given under different names. Please be aware of the fact that references to chi or meridians may not be given in the names or descriptions of these practices. Instead, deceptive terms may be used such as
energy
channels
energy points
non-invasive
biofield
electric field
electromagnetic field
currents
somatic
bodily
or there may be the use of scientific sounding terms in order to lend a false credibility to the material. Such terms are also used with other alternative/complementary modalities.
If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can receive Him into your heart, and He can deliver you from darkness and sin and have your name written in His Book of Life.
If you are sincere, you can say this simple prayer to the Father (it doesn’t have to be word for word):
“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins just as I forgive others. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”
