1 John 2:15-16 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
Idolatry can be anything or any person loved more than Jesus, wanted more than Jesus, desired more than Jesus, treasured more than Jesus, enjoyed more than God. It could be a romantic lover. It could be attaining grades. It could be the approval of other people. It could be your occupation. It could be sexual lust. It could be a hobby or a musical group that you are following or a sport. It could really be anything.
