“Zoroastrianism traces its origins to the prophet Zoroaster (Zarathustra), who lived in ancient Iran. His date is disputed: traditional chronologies often place him around the 7th–6th centuries B.C., while many modern scholars place him considerably earlier.

Zoroaster taught that Ahura Mazda (meaning “Wise Lord” or “Lord of Wisdom”) is the supreme deity and creator, the source of truth, goodness, and righteousness. However, Zoroastrianism also recognizes a powerful destructive spiritual opponent known as Angra Mainyu, or Ahriman, meaning the “Destructive Spirit” or “Hostile Spirit.” In Zoroastrian teaching, Ahura Mazda and the forces of goodness will ultimately triumph over evil, culminating in the final renovation of the world.

According to the Bible, however, God alone is the Almighty and sovereign Creator (Rev. 1:8). Satan is not God’s equal or an independent, eternal power opposing Him. He is a created spiritual being who rebelled against God, and his ultimate defeat is certain (Col. 1:16; Rev. 20:10).

Zoroastrian worship involves prayer, formal religious rituals, purification practices, and ethical observance directed toward Ahura Mazda. Its ethical teachings emphasize good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. Zoroastrianism also teaches that human beings are morally accountable for their conduct and that their actions affect their ultimate destiny.

Christianity, however, teaches that no human being can earn eternal life through personal righteousness or good works. All people are sinners and fall short of God’s perfect standard. Good works cannot erase the guilt of sin or earn salvation. This is why Jesus Christ had to die on the cross: to provide the sacrifice for sin that human beings could never provide for themselves. Salvation is God’s gift, received through faith in Jesus Christ, not something earned through human merit.

The Bible makes this very clear:

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)”

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can receive Him into your heart, and He can deliver you from darkness and sin and have your name written in His Book of Life.

If you are sincere, you can say this simple prayer to the Father (it doesn’t have to be word for word):

“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself, and that is wrong. Please forgive me for all of my sins, just as I forgive others. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, in giving His life for me on the cross. I believe in my heart that Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead, and I long to receive the forgiveness You have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”
