This is a photo of a Sound Bath studio. Sound Baths are grounded on New Age concepts of healing with sound and vibration.

They claim because of the sounds, one is able to melt into a meditative state with little to no effort. These sounds supposedly allow one’s higher self to remember and connect with source energy, and past lives (on earth and in the cosmos), and be at peace. Don’t be deceived!

In the New Age, one will often come across ideas of frequencies, energies, and vibrations. Don’t be deceived!

One ex-New Ager who became a Christian shared her experiences:

When I was in the New Age, we heard and read about Lemuria, an ancient civilization that supposedly used sound for healing and even for building things. These tales were intriguing. Therapies based on sound or vibrations were often supported by reference to the mythical Lemuria as well as to vibrations of plants.

Dabbling with the unseen world puts you into contact with fallen angels (demons). That is what all this supposed “healing” with vibrations, sounds, “quantum physics,” energy, chakras, etc. will lead you to. It is the world of darkness…..

The promoter of this states:

“This is an unforgettable sound experience for those who seek deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and introspection. All Sound Baths are 60-minute sonic healing sessions that consist of 25 minutes of crystal bowls played live and the balance of the hour to integrate the sound and relax in the sound chamber to recorded music.

You will be resting comfortably in the deeply resonant, multi-wave sound chamber while a sequence of quartz crystal singing bowls are played, each one keyed to the energy centers or chakras of the body, where sound is nutrition for the nervous system. The results are waves of peace, heightened awareness, and relaxation of the mind and body.”

….The obsession for relaxation and “healing” is leading many to a false peace, which can have a high spiritual cost. This is based on belief in the healing energy of sounds, balancing your energies, the chakras, and vibrations.

The concept of “we are all energy” is embraced with a vengeance by those captivated by New Age concepts (including many Christians), and this has led to this obsession with vibrations and how we can balance, raise, purify, change our “vibrations.”

Vibrational or sound healing is New Age. Verifiable use of ultrasound waves to shatter kidney stones in Lithotripsy, for example, or to treat pain, is another category. There are some scientifically, fact-based therapies that have been tested and proven. This is not the same as the Sound Bath or the claims to heal with sounds or vibrations addressed in this post.

The New Age conflates the terms “vibrations” and “sounds” with scientific treatments such as Lithotripsy and commits the fallacy of equivocation (treating the same word with different meanings as though that word means the same thing in all cases). This is a hallmark of pseudoscience marketers who sprinkle their websites with scientific terms or scientific-sounding terms to deceive you into thinking what they offer is legitimate.

Those who do this usually are chiropractors, Naturopaths, “natural healers,” or other similar terms. None of these are medical practitioners. Don’t let the use of “Dr.” fool you. The “Dr.” may refer to a chiropractor (who is not a medical doctor) or to a Ph.D, which is often from a dubious school that teaches “natural” (i.e., New Age) healing. Also notice if the website is a medically based source. If not, then disregard. This is one way to determine pseudoscience. (I will not argue these points in comments as they are based on plain pure fact).

The concepts of these Sound Baths and vibrational healing rest on New Age or sometimes Taoist views of the body, which are spiritual and not factual. Here is a statement that sounds good but is New Age:

“Vibrational Medicine is based on the scientific principles that all matter in the universe vibrates at a specific and precise frequency and that by using resonant vibrations, balance of matter can be restored.”

….Notice the phrase, “balance of matter can be restored.” This is the tip-off that it’s New Age and spiritual. “Balance,” a favorite New Age word, is vague and means nothing medical n this context. The claim that this is based on “scientific principles” is false. Those who promote it may view it that way because for them, anything they believe is scientific. I was in the New Age for over 20 years and I know how people who believe this way think. All terms are loose and can mean anything one wishes them to mean (by the way, the quoted statement is from a Naturopathy site).

Sound therapy and vibrational healing or vibrational medicine are no more legitimate and no less New Age (and in reality, occultic) than energy healing. There are whole industries built on these false spiritual views: Homeopathy, Rife machines, Radionics, Zyto scanners, Electromagnetic Pulse machines, Bemer machines, and more.

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can receive Him into your heart, and He can deliver you from darkness and sin and have your name written in His Book of Life.

If you are sincere, you can say this simple prayer to the Father (it doesn’t have to be word for word):

“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins just as I forgive others. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”

Very interesting that you aren’t open to sound baths because they’re “spiritual and not factual” but your religion is metaphysical. You believe in a Jesus you’ve never laid eyes on and can feel His Holy *Spirit*. Super weird. Whatevs. Shalom

Please help. I have a holistic doctor and she has told me many things iny body to fix and I used the supplements to fix them including fertility issues. She only used crystals to diagnose me. I’ve also been on a rife machine and it got rid of covid and shingala in my system. Is this wrong? I don’t want to offend Christ or grieve the Holy Spirit if this is wrong. I also use essential oils for ailments instead of pharmaceuticals.

This article feels like an opinion piece backed by no research whatsoever. There are plenty of studies and examples out there now pointing to the medical and healing benefit of sound waves.

The most head-scratching part of the article is this paragraph:

Verifiable use of ultrasound waves to shatter kidney stones in Lithotripsy, for example, or to treat pain, is another category. There are some scientifically, fact-based therapies that have been tested and proven. This is not the same as the Sound Bath or the claims to heal with sounds or vibrations addressed in this post.

Who makes that delineation? You? And as a Christian do you not believe all of creation began with sound?
