Introduction

Kanye West is perhaps one of the biggest rappers and producers of the last twenty years. Despite seemingly receiving all of what the world can offer (fame, fortune, “attractive” women, accolades, etc.), he still clearly struggles with a lot of inner turmoil. Many people have said he just thinks differently and is misunderstood. Others think he is legitimately crazy. I however believe there are signs that he is wrestling with demons—literally.

Several years ago, Kanye garnered attention and headlines for his seemingly open acceptance of Christianity and public conversion to Christianity. He released his Jesus is King album in 2019, which I mildly enjoyed listening to. He also spent over $50 million performing “Sunday Service” events across the country, which he once said was an effort to spread the Gospel. All of this intrigued me considering it’s exceedingly rare for a prominent celebrity figure to express repentance and turn to Jesus. He seemed sincere, but though I was rooting for him I was still skeptical that his walk with Jesus would last long. Sadly, it only lasted a few years as he not only renounced Christianity but seemed to have turned morally worse than before his Christian phase.

After seeing Kanye with his new $850,000 James Bond villain platinum teeth and other attics, it solidified my belief that Kanye has serious demonic issues. Sadly, those demons seem to have a strong influence over him. The spiritual warfare in his life is real.

Indicators Kanye is suffering from demonization

After many years of involvement in deliverance ministry, one’s discernment about signs of demonization sharpens. The following are some signs he has that are indicative he is demonized as I see it.

Kanye opened up about struggling with a lot of internal unrest. He also seemed to indicate that he was getting fed thoughts to end his life:

Kanye West once said, “Do you experience nervousness or shakiness inside, faintness and dizziness? The idea that someone else can control your thoughts? … Thoughts of ending your life?“

He was diagnosed with a mental disorder, which can sometimes be attributed to demonization:

“Even me, when I already had the house and the wife and the kids and the plaques…[I] would still have moments where I felt like, suicidal, would still have moments where I’m addicted to Percocets and don’t even realize it, you know what I’m saying?” he says.

As the years went on, West’s mental health continued to deteriorate, and in 2018 he confirmed that he’d been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

According to West, he found the “dirty magazines” in the closet of his late mother, Donda West, who he recently claimed was a lesbian.

West received backlash last month after he called himself “the new Jesus” in his Vultures 1 album, released on Feb. 10. The album includes a song called “Carnival,” which is filled with obscene language and sexual violence. The new album was a collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign.

Kanye West’s latest outrageous stunt is a video featuring him posing in a diamond-encrusted swastika necklace next to infamous white supremacist Nick Fuentes.

The controversial rapper, who has made numerous public antisemitic comments, introduces a smiling Fuentes on the video as his “white supremacist homeboy.”

In recent weeks, West has displayed a bizarre infatuation with the swastika and other Nazi imagery. In another now-deleted post West claimed to be teasing a new artwork for his Sunday service choir that bore a striking resemblance to the logo of the SS.

In February, the rapper appeared in a 60-second ad at the Super Bowl, in which he directed viewers to his website to sell T-shirts bearing a swastika. The shirts cost $20, though the sales website – yeezy.com – later stated that the store was “unavailable.”

Last August Fuentes claimed West had floated the idea of somehow legally changing his name to a swastika.

Summarizing what could be his symptoms of demonization

• Kanye has/had suicidal ideation. Evil spirits can impress upon people’s minds to end their lives.
• Kanye suffers/suffered from anxiety. Of course, anxiety can be due to circumstances in one’s life (e.g., an upcoming important exam), but if it is unrelated to any situation, the anxiety is likely attributed to the demonic.
• Kanye suffers/suffered from depression. Being oppressed by depression can be attributed to the demonic.
• Kanye thinks someone is trying to control his thoughts, which seems to indicate the evil spirits are trying to manipulate him.
• Kanye hears voices in his head. This is perhaps the most significant tell-tale sign that he has demons indwelt. If anyone hears voices in their head telling them to do things outside of the will of God, then it is likely demons.
• Kanye’s erratic behavior. Demons can have people acting strangely, such as the recent news report of a naked woman at a Texas airport who went on a wild stabbing and biting spree.
• Kanye expressed hatred or racism for a particular group of people. If God is love, then where does this unmerited hate for a whole group of people come from?
• Kanye was controlled when drunk. It’s much easier for the evil spirits indwelt to control when they are in an altered state of consciousness.
• Kanye suffers from mental illness (bipolar disorder).
• He approves of extreme sexual immorality, which is the will of the devil.
• Was involved in a homosexual–incestuous relationship as a child, which is a demonic door opener.
• He’s extremely prideful. Pride is the chief characteristic of the devil.
• Thinking of himself as god/Jesus.
• Kanye blasphemies. In deliverance ministry, I have come across many demonized people who said they heard voices in their heads saying blasphemous things. In Kanye’s case, he blasphemes Jesus very openly.

Most, if not all, aforementioned are listed as signs or symptoms of demonization.

It is my belief that many celebrities, especially in the music industry, who have been prominent in the news lately exhibit blatant signs of demonization, such as R. Kelly and P Diddy. Kanye is being used as an example here to highlight the signs of demonization, how the devil destroys, twists, and influences people, and how chasing the things of the world as opposed to God leads to a dead end.

Closing Statements

Kanye West turning away from God is like the one who received the seed in stony places or among the thorns in Jesus’ Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13:18-23:

¹⁸ Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.¹⁹ When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.²⁰ But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;²¹ Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.²² He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.²³ But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

The situation with Kanye is a reminder of how much sacrifice and self-denial it takes to indeed follow Jesus.

And how much harder is it for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven? The not-often-quoted following Bible passage reads (Matthew 19:16-26):

¹⁶ And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?¹⁷ And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.¹⁸ He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,¹⁹ Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.²⁰ The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?²¹ Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.²³ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.²⁴ And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.²⁵ When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Was Kanye ever so serious about Jesus that he would have sold all his possessions to give to the poor to follow Him?

Sadly, Kanye’s demonic downward spiral will likely worsen. Let’s hope that he repents and completely surrenders to Christ.

I acknowledge the completed work of Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”
